If you’re new here (welcome!), I’m a lifestyle and family photographer based in Chattanooga, TN. Since I’m based in Tennessee, my opportunities to shoot at the beach are limited. You can imagine my excitement when I learned I would be shooting a beach proposal session during a trip to Florida!
The couple that I had the opportunity to capture are actually very dear friends of mine. At first, I thought this would be just a casual beach photoshoot. The gentleman in the photos sprung on me (the day before!) that he would actually be proposing to her! Eeeee!

One thing I learned from this session…
The beach is so bright. There is so much light from the sun reflecting off of the sand and the water. This, I knew, but must have forgotten how it would effect my session. We arrived to the beach about an hour before sunset, which is my typical time I tell couples we should start shooting. The light was not nearly magical enough until about 20-30 minutes before sunset. This actually ended up being okay, because we had quite the walk up the beach to the perfect secluded spot. Even after sunset, the light lingered well enough for additional photos.
