For this sweet family’s fall photo session, we went a little north of Spring Hill to the Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN. Harlinsdale Farm is a unique location that features a large white barn and a beautiful pond to shoot at. There are also several other barns, old houses, open fields, and fence lines on location. The park has horse trails on site and also horses that you can go look at! It’s truly a fun place to take the family.
The weather was perfect for photos! Sunny with minimal cloud coverage and the temperature was finally starting to feel like fall! Because it was such a perfect day, the farm was really crowded. We had to strategically find places to shoot where other families wouldn’t be in our photos. This was not always possible, so I used my patch tool and clone stamp in photoshop to edit my accidental photo-bombers out.
This family is seriously adorable. They walked up hand in hand already. I love to have family’s hold hands and capture photos of them walking – and they were already doing it before I asked them to!
Some of the prompts I love to use with younger families are playing ring around the rosie, running up and giving mom and dad hugs and kisses, and the “EW!” shot. I have the kids cover their eyes and say “Ewww!” while mom and dad share a kiss in the background.
You can capture more genuine smiles when you get them playing and having fun! Next, I had them sitting on the blanket in front of the barn and had mom and dad tickle them.
How cute are those smiles! I ended the session over by the pond while the sun was setting.
This was my favorite image of the girls from our session. This family just makes my heart smile! We had the perfect day for photos and they were able to have a little fun, too!
